  • What Do I Need to Graduate?

All graduates of Mt. Bethel Christian Academy must earn a minimum of 25 credits; beginning with the class of 2027, 25.5 credits are required. A full credit is awarded for successful completion of a full-year course, and a half credit is awarded for successful completion of a single semester course or of one semester of a full-year course. Approved Upper School credits earned in Middle School will count towards these requirements.

While MBCA's curriculum will satisfy the entrance requirements of most universities, including all University System of Georgia schools, individual colleges and universities may have particular requirements beyond these. It is the responsibility of the student, with the aid of MBCA's College Counselor, to ensure that all necessary courses are taken for admission to the college of choice.

Required courses and the number of credit hours for graduation are below:

BIBLE - 4 credits are required. All students must complete a 0.5 credit Bible course each semester they are enrolled at MBCA.

ENGLISH - 4 credits are required, including English 9, English 10, English 11, and English 12 (or the Honors/AP alternatives).

SOCIAL STUDIES - 3 credits are required, including World History, United States History, and one additional social studies credit. Beginning with the Class of 2027, 4 credits are required, including Human Geography, World History, United States History, Government (0.5), and Economics (0.5).

MATHEMATICS - 4 credits are required, including Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, and one year of math beyond Algebra II.

SCIENCE - 4 credits are required, including Biology, Chemistry, either Physical Science, Intro to Physics and Chemistry, or Physics, and one additional science credit.

WORLD LANGUAGES - 3 credits are required, with at least two credits from the same language. Beginning with the Class of 2027, 2 credits are required, with both credits being from the same language; three years of language is strongly encouraged.

FINE ARTS - 1 credit is required.

PHYSICAL EDUCATION - 1 credit is required, including Health and an active physical education course such as Personal Fitness or Strength and Conditioning. Students who complete at least two seasons of participation in an athletic co-curricular may apply to waive the active physical education course requirement.

ELECTIVES - 1 credit is required in Rhetoric. Beginning with the Class of 2027, students must complete an additional 0.5 credit in Personal Finance.

  • US 101 - Rescheduled Sep 5th

We have an important update regarding our upcoming US 101 – Upper School & Beyond event. Originally planned for this Friday, the day before the long weekend, we’ve received feedback that many of you may be traveling and unable to attend.

In an effort to respect your time and give all of our families the opportunity to participate, we are rescheduling US 101 to take place as part of our Upper School Open House on Friday, September 5. Rather than holding two separate events on different dates, we have decided that integrating Upper School 101 with our Open House will allow us to be mindful of your time while still providing the most comprehensive picture of the Upper School journey. This will allow you to hear directly from our high school students and recent graduates, ask questions, and gain valuable insight into the Upper School experience and beyond.

We will be sending additional details soon regarding the Open House schedule and how US 101 will be included in the itinerary. For now, we encourage you to mark 8:30 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 5 on your calendar. If you already plan to attend, you can RSVP at this link, and additional details will follow in another email. We look forward to seeing you there!
